JEWELLERY CARE

Like many other metals raw brass natrually oxidises, tarnishes and darkens over time. So to keep the light, bright and beautiful glistening quality of our jewellery it's best to give it a little polish just before wearing (if using occasionally) or about once every two weeks if you wear it often.

This is very common practice in jewellery care and we provide a polishing cloth with every item sold, but you can use any kind of metal polish such as Brasso or Silvo with a soft cloth or flat cotton wool pad, followed by a gentle wash in warm soapy water. If you'd rather use a more natural cleaning method you can mix the juice of half a lemon with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a paste and gently rub that into your jewellery with a soft cloth, again followed by a warm gentle wash in soapy water. And if you'd like to see what happens when you leave your jewellery to oxidise then please feel free – you can polish it an any point in the future to see it go back to it's original shiny pale gold colour.

We also offer a jewellery polishing service for £5 per item (which includes return packing and postage) if you'd rather not do it yourself. Please add the Polishing Service to your basket and check out as usual – then pop your jewellery in the post to us. We'll aim to polish and return your jewellery within 7 days (not including post time).
